Portwest MV26 Modaflame High-Vis Arc Flash Trousers
The Portwest MV26 Modaflame High-Vis Arc Flash Trousers are designed to offer protection against arc flashes, as well as other industrial hazards such as electrostatic discharge, molten metal and chemical splashes. The trousers are both durable and comfortable, with triple-stitched seams, knee pad pockets and an elasticated waist for freedom of movement.
What Can the Modaflame High-Vis Arc Flash Trousers Do to Help Me?
The trousers have several helpful features:
- Arc Flash Protection: The trousers offer extensive protection against arc flashes
- High-Visibility: The trousers feature reflective tape and qualify as high-vis
- Multi-Hazard: The trousers offer protection against radiant, convective and contact heat as well as welding related hazards, electrostatic discharge and splashes of harmful chemicals
- Functional: The trousers feature two tier knee pads for comfort and durability, long lasting brass zips, nine pockets for storage and triple-stitched seams to prevent rips or tears
- Mobility: Elasticated back waist for comfort and freedom of movement
The Arc Flash Trousers are made from Modaflame, the modacrylic fibres providing inherent flame resistance. The cotton fibre woven into the fabric bestows anti-static properties, and the flame resistant qualities of the jacket will not diminish with washing.
Who Can Use the Portwest Modaflame High-Vis Arc Flash Trousers?
The Portwest trousers offer the ideal lower-body protection against industrial hazards such as arc flashes, and are excellent in combination with the Portwest Arc Flash Jacket. They are suitable for multi-hazard environments, and the elasticated back waist allows for full freedom of movement. They are ideal welding trousers, but equally suitable for industrial electricians, road workers or energy testing technicians.

What Do These Certifications Mean?
- EN 11612: This standard determines whether a garment offers protection against heat and flames, and whether this protection extends to convective, radiant or contact heat
- EN 11611: This standard shows whether an item of clothing is suitable for welding or similar tasks and will protect the wearer from heat and metal splashes
- EN 1149-5: This standard demonstrates whether a garment protects against electrostatic discharge in environments such as petrochemical refineries where there is a risk of explosion
- EN ISO 20471: This standard certifies whether an item of clothing is capable of visually signalling the user's presence, and assesses the durability of the high-vis qualities of the garment
- EN 13034: This standard refers to a garment's ability to protect against spatters from dangerous liquid chemicals
- IEC 61482: This standard indicates the garment's ability to provide protection against the thermal hazards of an electrical arc
- ASTM F1959: This standard determines the arc rating of a garment, which is the amount of energy needed to pass through the fabric to cause a second or third degree burn
- AS/NZS 1906.4:2010: This standard specifies the requirements for high-visibility materials for use in industrial safety garments
The trousers offer optimum protection against arc flashes and related thermal hazards. They are also protective against liquid chemicals, electrostatic discharge, welding hazards and radiant, convective and contact heat. The trousers qualify as highly visible in low-light conditions.
