The Portwest FR59 Blue Bizflame FR Anti-Static North Sea Jacket will protect you from the fire, molten metal and electrostatic hazards of the oil and gas industry while also equipping you to face the extreme cold of offshore work. The jacket offers class 2 welding protection, and features a detachable hood for the option of additional warmth.

What Can the Blue Bizflame FR Anti-Static North Sea Jacket Do for Me?

The coat has several helpful features:

  • Thermal: Flame resistant cotton lining and the detachable hood both contribute to the jacket's certification as effective protection from the cold
  • Flame Resistance: The jacket shields the wearer from radiant, convective and contact heat
  • Multi-Hazard: Class 2 welding protection from molten metal, and carbon fibre elements prevent the build-up of static charge
  • Functional: Reflective tape for increased visibility, two-way durable brass zip for easy access, inner waist adjustment for snug fit, radio loop for easy clipping and 5 pockets for storage

The jacket is constructed from the inherently anti-static and flame resistant material Bizflame Plus. This fabric features durable triple stitching, reflective industrial wash tape for visibility and has performed excellently in the manikin test under EN 11612.

What Do These Certifications Mean?

  • EN 1149-5: This standard demonstrates whether a garment protects against electrostatic discharge in environments such as petrochemical refineries where there is a risk of explosion
  • EN 11612: This standard determines whether a garment offers protection against heat and flames, and whether this protection extends to convective, radiant or contact heat
  • EN 11611: This standard shows whether an item of clothing is suitable for welding or similar tasks and will protect the wearer from heat and metal splashes
  • EN 342: This standard refers to the thermal insulation and air permeability of the garment in a cold environment

The jacket offers protection from radiant, convective and contact heat, as well as welding related hazards such as splashes of molten metal. The jacket will effectively prevent the build-up of static charge on the wearer, and will keep you warm in cold conditions while remaining breathable and comfortable.
