What Is the Fall Arrest Block For?
The Fall Arrest Kevlar Block is designed for use as part of a fall arrest system. When used with harnesses and anchor points, it will allow you to safely work from height. In the event of a fall, the fall arrest system will be able to take your weight.
Fall Arrest
A Fall Arrest system will not stop you from falling. It is instead a system that ensures a fall is carried out in a safe and controlled manner. This enables a worker to carry out their job, while a body harness is connected to a suitable shock absorbing system.
This will not prevent free fall. You will still fall, however, you will quickly be caught by a fall arrest block, rope, a lanyard and your harness. Training MUST be provided, and an escape plan MUST be in place before an accident takes place. Below are some situations where fall arrest could be helpful:
- Scaffolding
- Wind energy
- Crane erection and maintenance
- High bay pallet racking
- Construction
- Roof work
How Safe Is the Fall Arrest Webbing Block?
Fall Arrest equipment is high-quality and prioritises safety, as such this Scaffold Hook is fully compliant to the following safety standard:
10m Auto-Retracting Galvanized Steel Cord
The webbing of the Fall Arrest Block is made of incredibly strong, durable and resilient 4mm thick galvanised steel. The extending design means that it can be pulled away and extended up to 10m away from the block, allowing for freer movement while working at height. It is also auto-retracting, which reduces the amount of slack to help maintain stringent safety standards.
Comprehensive Impact Resistance and Shock Absorption
Surrounding the base of the steel cord is a powerful shock absorber with a built-in spring to greatly reduce the impact on your body in case of a fall. Not only will this Fall Arrest Block stop you from hitting any surface below, it will also make the sudden force of an arrest less painful.
Attached Swivel Snap Hook and Anchorage Eye
Attached to the Fall Arrest Block on one end is a double-action, swivel snap hook, for quick and secure fastening to a harness. The other side has a swivel anchorage eye, which can be secured to a structure with a carabiner or another locking mechanism.
Fall Indicator for Maximum Safety
This Webbing Block has a fall indication patch sewn in, which frays when exposed to significant force. This will make it clear when the cord is no longer effective and must be switched out.
